Privacy Policy
Information we collect
CineTaara is a static site. We don't require visitors to create an account to read articles. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people view each article -- it doesn't use cookies and doesn't track you individually or across other sites, it just counts anonymous page views. We may collect limited information in the following situations:
- Your email address, if you voluntarily sign up for our newsletter (when that feature is active).
- A name and/or email address, if you choose to leave a comment on a post (when that feature is active).
- Any information you send us directly, such as via email.
Cookies and local storage
Liking a post and switching between light and dark mode are both remembered using your browser's own local storage, not cookies -- that preference stays on your device and isn't sent to us in any form that identifies you. Liking a post does send a request to our server to increment that post's public like count, but it isn't tied to your name, email, or any other identifying information, just an anonymous count going up.
When active, our comment and newsletter tools may set their own cookies necessary for them to function (for example, to remember that you've already submitted a comment). We don't use cookies to build advertising profiles of visitors.
How we use information
We use the information above only to operate the site: sending newsletter issues to subscribers and displaying and moderating comments, when those features are active. We do not sell visitor data to third parties.
Third-party services
This site loads webfonts from Google Fonts and is hosted on Cloudflare -- both may log standard request information such as your IP address, the same way any website's hosting provider does. Page view counts are measured by Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookie-free analytics tool -- see Cloudflare's own privacy policy for how it handles that data. When active, comments and newsletter signup are handled by Cusdis and Buttondown respectively; those providers may process data under their own privacy policies in addition to this one.
Your choices
You can clear your liked posts or theme preference at any time by clearing your browser's local site data for cinetaara.com -- nothing on our end needs to change for that. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any newsletter email. To ask about or request removal of other information we may hold about you, contact us at [email protected].
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "last updated" date above.
